We have now concluded out learning about Crime and Punishment. We now can answer the following questions, using the KNOWLEDGE we have obtained since September. This history project was enjoyed by all of Barn Owls. Hightlights include:
During the first part of the Spring Term we will be continuing our Crime and Punishment umbrella learning.
Focussing on the history of the Magna Carta
and its importance in the modern day Justice System, and using our understanding of British Values to discuss what is right and wrong.
We are also expecting the local police will hold a Crime Scene Investigation day!
We will be focussing our Design And Technology knowledge and skills to work through a top secret project - watch this space!
Our Maths and English skills will be embedded across the entire curriculum and we will be striving to produce some outstanding work.
Our class team include Miss Reeder, Mrs McLeary, Miss Gardner and Mrs Goodyear. In collaboration, the adults and children, work in an exciting, respectful and fun learning environment.
December 5th 2018
This morning Barn Owls have luckily had two Magistrates, who sit in Lincoln, come in. The children participated in a mock trial. Woody was the accused and Oly played the part of the victim. Three of our year six children (Thomas, Harriet and Dominic), sat as magistrates and other children represented the Crime Prosecution Service, the defence solicitors and the Youth Offending team.
It was a fascinating experience and all the children were enthralled throughout. In addition to the two gentleman, from the Magistrates court, we were honoured that the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire also joined us. It was fascinating to hear about his role and things he does in the community.
The gentleman commented on how well behaved Barn Owls were and how our school had a fantastic atmosphere and family feel. Well done Barn Owls.
In Barn Owls we like a challenge - why not try some of these maths games with your parents, siblings or friends. Which one is your favourite and why?
Our 'WOW WRITING' board is already showing what a great start we have made with our creative work.
