We are the Barn Owls!
In our class there are children in year five and year six. We work with three adults during the week.
Miss Reeder and Miss Gardner will be teaching us on Monday , Tuesday and Wednesdays.
Mrs McLeary and Miss Gardner will be teaching us on Thursday and Fridays. We also have fantastic P.E lessons with Mr Sutton twice a week.
Our current topic is
HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE!
We are going to be zooming around the globe learning about different places. In June we are going on an exciting residential to Scarborough. We will be visiting Scarborough Castle; carrying out land use surveys, having Fish and Chips at a restaurant; making sand sculptures on the beach and of course a must at the seaside...ice cream!
We will be comparing and contrasting Scarborough to Billingborough, looking at different buildings, uses of land and provisions.
In design and technology we will be looking at bridges. Investigating how mathematics plays a crucial part in the construction of these amazing structures; planning and making our own designs. Following that we will evaluate what worked well and what could be improved. When we go to Scarborough, we will cross the impressive Humber Bridge.
In mathematics we are all working really hard on our arithmetic skills and then using and applying them in a variety of different problems. We have learning to use Excel to create some interesting Spreadsheets and have used them to solve budgeting problems.
In science we have been studying Light - what sources there are; how our eye sees and how light travels. We have conducted some scientific experiments and were very lucky to have an optometrist come into our class and talk to us about our eye health and answer our many questions.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
