Everyone loves a baby!
Something very exciting happened yesterday
(Wednesday 11th December 2019).
Since October, we have been very busy practising our lines and learning the words to our amazing nativity songs.
Our beautiful singing has been heard coming from the classrooms and the school hall.
Having visited the Guildhall Theatre earlier in the term, the children loved the microphones and stage lighting that was used in the Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs production. So for our nativity this year, we had microphones and fantastic stage lighting just like the professionals! A big thank you to Mr Gillespie and Mr Moss who helped us with the mics and lights.
What an amazing day with not only 1, 2 but 3 sensational nativity performances.
Well done to all the children from Dormice, Water Vole and Roe Deer classes you have made so many grown ups proud of you, from the grown ups at school to your grown ups at home.
Here a few messages from friends and family of the cast.
"What an amazing nativity play. How did all the children remember so many songs? Well done to everyone involved on and off the stage. The bar is et high for next year!"
"Everyone loves a baby was well planned out. The children have beautiful singing voices and all played their parts with confidence. Well done."
"What a lovely nativity - we all enjoyed it very much. Thank you to all to the staff involved for making it so memorable for all."
What a beautiful nativity. All of the children were delivered amazing performances. Gorgeous outfits, gorgeous songs and gorgeous smiles! We are now well and truly in the festive spirit. Thank you to all you wonderful teachers for working so hard to make it happen. Merry Christmas."
Our Christmas Tree Day 2019
The tradition goes on! For over thirty years, Mr Moss has given our school is Christmas Tree and this year Miss Reeder helped to choose this fabulous fir! Once again, we held our Christmas Tree Day, inviting our families to make its wonderful decorations, then come and hang them on the tree. We are delighted to make the tree a gift, at the end of term to the village. It will transfer complete with decorations under Rev Neil's careful eye to the Church to watch over the seasonal services.
Peterborough Utd FC football coaching and 'Peter Burrow' assembly 12 September 2019
As part of their community work, 3 football coaches from Peterborough came into school and worked with all our KS2 girls to help improve their football skills. Then the club mascot Peter Burrow appeared in our school assembly to entertain us all with his 'dancing'; he got some children and even a few teachers to floss with him! And another lovely surprise...every child got a voucher for a free match ticket!! Here are some of the photos
On Wednesday 19th December, we enjoyed Christmas lunch together in our school hall. This year due to our buoyant numbers throughout school we have two sittings for lunchtime. Children from Dormice, Water Vole and Roe Deer classes enjoyed their lunch first, followed by children from Buzzard, Nightingale and Barn Owl classes.
Roast turkey and roast beef with all the trimmings was served followed by chocolate Christmas cupcakes. It was a very special 'family' occasion to see all our children, staff and volunteers all enjoying this festive season.
Another year has whizzed by and we are busy singing new Christmas songs, learning those all important lines as well as remembering where we need to stand on the stage.
'A King is Born.'
This year, we are delighted to be performing our nativity not once, not twice but three times as we have so many children in lower school. The big day will be Thursday 13th December 2018 at 9.30am, 2pm and the very exiting 6pm performance. We have also extended our stage area and are looking to further extend the stage next year too!
Well done, the A King is Born performances were sensational and you have all made so many growns up happy and extremely proud. Your costumes were fantastic, the songs were clearly enjoyed by all and the speaking parts were said confidently and clearly.
Christmas Tree Day
The tradition goes on! For over thirty years, Mr Moss has given our school is Christmas Tree. Chosen with his grandchildren from the field in Autumn, imagine our pupils' amazement when it arrived! Once again, our huge thanks to the Moss family for our ceiling high fabulous fir. This year we held our first Christmas Tree Day, inviting our families to make its wonderful decorations, then come and hang them on the tree. We are delighted to make the tree a gift, at the end of term to the village. It will transfer complete with decorations under Rev Neil's careful eye to the Church to watch over the seasonal services.

For the last month, we have been very busy practising our Christmas production
‘Wriggly Nativity'.
Our beautiful singing has been heard coming from the classroom and the school hall, and we have been busy learning our lines too.
Watch this space for photos of the dress rehearsal and our two performances on
Thursday 14th December.

Christmas Lunch
On Wednesday 13th December, we all enjoyed Christmas lunch together in our school hall. Roast turkey and roast beef with all the trimmings was served followed by chocolate Christmas cupcakes. It was a very special occasion to see our youngest children through to our Year 6s, staff and volunteers all enjoying this festive season.
Celebrating Harvest
On Friday 6th October, it was our Harvest Festival Assembly. We were delighted to see so many parents and friends join us as the children sang and read poems.
Living in such an agricultural county, it is appropriate at this time of year for the children and wider school community to reflect on our good fortune and consider those less fortunate than ourselves.
Thank you to everyone that generously donated to our Harvest charities. We were able to set up a Harvest stall selling fruit and vegetables and this money will also be given to the food bank to support with the costs of running the centres.
To commemorate our 140th anniversary (August 1876 to August 2017), we commissioned a whole school photograph which was taken last Friday. We were blessed by the weather as the preparations began… First the scaffolding was put in place and we fetched benches and chairs from the hall.
All the children lined up in the playground and the photographer had the daunting task of putting the whole school into height order!
In a stiff breeze and high spirits the tallest children ascended the steps and line by line by line the school came together.
When the scaffold was full the staff and governors took their places; finally our smallest children were seated at the very front. Feet together, face forward, hands out of pockets , say "Sausages", job done!
Families will be able to order copies of the photograph to mark this occasion , a full size sample of the photo is on display in the main entrance hall.
December 2016
A massive congratulations to all the children in Dormice, Water Vole and Roe Deer classes for a spectacular Christmas Nativity 'A Little Bird Told Me.' The singing was beautiful, the children learnt their lines so well and the costumes were amazing.
Monday 25th January - Friday 29th January 2016
This week we are beginning a trial breakfast service in school at our before school club, in the kitchen every morning. We will begin with our regular attendees offering cereal, juice and toast.
If this is successful we will be able to offer meals for a small charge, to cover costs, from after February half term. We hope this will help our working parents and may make our wrap around provision suitable for other families too. Once this is established, we will be investigating after school snacks as well!
In the meantime if you want to shake up your wake up at home there are lots of good ideas on their website www.shakeupyourwakeup.com/ breakfast-recipes. We’d love to see any pictures of your yummy breakfast!
