Take a minute to see where we are going...
Children in Years 5 and 6 were invited to take part in a weekend residential on the coast in Norfolk. We can't wait to see where they are going for real!
Watch this space...
A huge thank-you to "United Fillings" our village sponsor for our super T-shirts!
We got a bit bored, waiting for the bus.
You work through a heat wave, then when you want the sunshine - look at the weather!
Still, there is no evidence of dampened spirits in the travelling group - and the bus is here!
The coach driver is smart and friendly, so far (well we haven't actually gone anywhere yet...) so good!
At last! Time to board, we don't think the children were at all bothered about the weather!
"Only put your suitcase in the boot. Not your lunch or your drink."
If we said it once..!
Everyone say "Bye!"
Mr James has been following the bus, driving to Norfolk so we have a car on site in case of an emergency. It would be fair to say the weather is not improving yet!
The Swans have landed!
Who needs Robin Hood?
Some of our archers scored a bulls-eye!
I'm a bit worried about Mrs Webster... She looks rather out of her comfort zone!!
I'm not sure Tarzan wore a cagoule in my day... Great to see the children's team work in action!

Tonight's (indoor and dry!) challenge is - build a team shoe rack!
I just hope they can find their own pair in the morning!
'Twas just before eleven
And in every room
The Swans were all settled
And sleep followed soon
An exciting, long day
Came to a calm close
Showered and teeth cleaned
We were ready to doze
The miserable rain
Had finally ceased
Our super Swans
Were happily at peace
A decent night's sleep for all, everything considered!
Really, you cry? Yes, surprisingly, it was
Well, we emptied the tumble dryer; they all said they'd collected their belongings, but all this was left...
... and later found its way back to its owners!
If they come home with some dubious card tricks, blame Mr James. This is how it's done, lads...
An army marches on its...

Digging deep and finding courage we didn't know we had...
The children have been wondering if their legs are long enough to scale the Jacob's Ladder...
What do we think of it so far?
Not to be outdone by the children, the grown-ups take to the ropes...
Just hanging around, Mr James?
A whole new meaning is given to, “The children wouldn’t stop whittling!”
Now don’t try to kid me, man cub
I made a deal with you
What I desire is man’s red fire 🔥
To make my dreams come true!

Walk to the beach undertaken by the teachers: all safe so, everything being well and dry, we’ll be paddling tomorrow morning.

Mr “The Bard” James has written another poem! In the early hours of this morning, he composed this…
Super Saturday draws to an end
Making memories with our fabulous friends
A hearty breakfast then scaling the heights
Amazing teamwork, such wonderful sights
Jittery nerves but such courage shown
Helping each other, no-one alone
Taking a good look at what we’ve achieved
Better than most of us really believed
Climbing, balancing, steadying the line
We’ve got your back, you’ll be just fine!
A range of bushcraft skills in our groups of ten
Logs and foliage to create our own dens
Safely whittling sticks with a really sharp knife
“This is the most awesome day of my life”
Carefully building small fires, like adventurers do
Bark, dry grass and a range of twigs too
Striking the fire steels and the sparks, see them fly
Determined efforts, oh how we all tried!
Pizza, mac & cheese, ice cream for afters
Bellies full and a room full of laughter
The Mini Olympics were about to begin
Such friendly rivalry but which team would win?
Running relays to burn off that dinner
Everyone striving to be a winner
The pace was hot and the atmosphere frantic
Then creative comedy races with theatrical antics
Boy, what a day, “Kingswood is the best”
But now we’re catching our well-earned rest
All silently settled before eleven
The staff all think they must be in heaven…
The “Burning Pot of Wonder” as named by Jack!
Mr James' last ode to Overstrand...
Overstrand Beach on a blustery day
With holes to dig and ball games to play
Stealthy, foaming waves crept ever nearer
But gladly the sky soon became clearer
As we frolicked around on the fine Norfolk shore
What curious rocks we found to explore
A strong salty breeze filled the morning air
But Swans don’t mind a little sand in our hair!
Burgers for lunch then out for more fun
Archery, obstacle challenges – who needs the sun?
Problem-solving and working as a team
Blindfolds on, but not one single scream
An evening campfire with roaring flames
Marshmallows, hot chocolate, riddles and games
Our final evening at Overstrand Hall
But we’re all worn out now – goodnight all!
It's the final morning, beds stripped, bags packed, "Happy Birthday!"... Playing cards lads?
Final activities, teams stronger than ever, memories made.
