Hello and welcome to our new Nursery children and parents who will be joining Billingborough Primary School.
We are super excited about meeting your little people and welcoming them to our school. This is the beginning of a new adventure that we cannot wait to share with you all. We are looking forward to welcoming you as your child embarks on the next step in their educational journey.
We appreciate that starting school is such an important and special time for you and your child. We will keep this page on our website up to date with as much information as possible for you and we will upload Nursery starter documents. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
The Early Years Team
We follow the DfE-listed, Monster Phonics scheme for children in Reception and Key Stage 1 and as an intervention in Key Stages 1 and 2. The resources are mapped against the Letters and Sounds phases 1-6 and the KS1 Spelling Curriculum. The Monster Phonics team are currently working on Nursery resources to compliment their Monster Phonics scheme for Reception and Key Stage 1 resources. The colour-coded grapheme system is unique to Monster Phonics; each coloured grapheme is paired with a monster character that makes the same sound to give audio-visual prompts that help children ‘see’ each sound within a word and pronounce it correctly. Our monsters are really sound cues to help children remember how to read and pronounce graphemes. Click on the Black Cat icon to explore our Billingborough Phonics curriculum page.
Many little things light up hungry little minds. Kids take everything in, and even the smallest things you do with them can make a big difference.
They love it when you chat, play and read with them, even when they’re too young to understand everything. Whatever the time and wherever you are, you can turn almost anything into a game. And every little thing you do together will help set them up nicely for the day they start school.

Hungry Little Minds know that phones or tablets are part of many families’ everyday lives and kids love to use them, but it’s not always easy to know which apps and games can benefit your child’s learning.
That is why Hungry Little Minds have given a quality mark to apps that an independent educational panel believes have good educational value.
Why not try these with your child alongside the other activities listed on this site? Click on the Apps and Information icon to explore the website.
