Phase 2
Phase 2 includes learning 19 letters of the alphabet and one sound for each letter. Blending sounds together to make words and segmenting words into their separate sounds is also part of Phase 2. CVC refer to words with a consonant phoneme, a vowel phoneme and then a consonant phoneme such as hot, bed, boat and ship. The words cow and toy are not CVC words. Children are also now beginning to read simple captions.
