To our Reception class of 2020
Hello and welcome to our new Reception children and parents who will be joining Billingborough Primary School in September.
We are super excited about meeting your little people and welcoming them to our school. This is the beginning of a new adventure that we cannot wait to share with you all. Whether you are a new family to Billingborough or a familiar face we are looking forward to welcoming you as your child embarks on the next step in their educational journey.
We appreciate that starting school is such an important and special time for you and your child, we would like to do everything we can to prepare and support you between now and your child starting in September. We will keep this page on our website up to date with as much information as possible for you and we will upload Reception starter documents. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.
The Early Years Team
We follow the DfE-listed, Monster Phonics scheme for children in Reception and Key Stage 1 and as an intervention in Key Stages 1 and 2. The resources are mapped against the Letters and Sounds phases 1-6 and the KS1 Spelling Curriculum. Click on the Monster Phonics icon to explore www.monsterphonics.com.
The colour-coded grapheme system is unique to Monster Phonics; each coloured grapheme is paired with a monster character that makes the same sound to give audio-visual prompts that help children ‘see’ each sound within a word and pronounce it correctly. Our monsters are really sound cues to help children remember how to read and pronounce graphemes. Click on the Black Cat icon to explore our Billingborough Phonics curriculum page.
Every day your child is facing challenges involving problem-solving, thinking and reflection skills that make him or her a natural mathematician. Help your child to prepare for learning maths at school with these simple games, rhymes and everyday activities. Maths teaching in primary schools has undergone a revolution in recent years – find fun ways of exploring maths at home, and then see how the fun continues as your child starts school
