Below you will find our Covid-19 Blended Learning plans for 2020-2021.

During this challenging time, the school has to stand ready to deliver learning both on site and off. This may be for individuals, groups, whole classes or "bubbles" or even all the school.

 At this time everything you need to know can be found on the web site. If your child has to stay at home because  they are isolating or in quarantine, or if their whole bubble closes, then you will find planning for all their lessons (to be undertaken off site) on their class page 

Please see the “Blended Learning” icons at the top of their class page. Click on each icon to get the planning  for the week for that subject.

For example, in maths you should find the master plan for the class and the resources and documents needed to complete the task.

In maths, you may well see links for videos to support delivering the lesson content to your child or PowerPoint slides from White Rose, the maths scheme we use.

For some lessons such as Science or English, the lesson may be accompanied not by an actual video to play directly, but by a video link from a site such as  YouTube.

Where this is the case, please note our e-safety reminder about adverts.

While we can vouch for the video content, we cannot predict the advert your device may play before a clip; this depends on the cookies on your machine. Therefore please open any links yourself before playing them to your children.

Each class has an email address which pupil's work sent to for teachers to look over and where they will provide feedback if required.

For children in Dormice and Water Voles, please use Tapestry to submit photos of children's work/activities they have done.  

Please note these addresses are ONLY for submission of work to teachers. Other correspondence and messages for staff should go via the office as usual.

In our Swan News Letter, sent on October 22nd, we gave the following introduction to your child's green "Remote Learning Book". Here it is again as a reminder.

In the event of a whole class or school closure; in addition to plans , videos and slides, children will also receive live online teaching input too. This is delivered via Microsoft Teams,  your child has their own log-in to access to their virtual classroom. Families can access this by downloading the Microsoft Teams App. All your log in details are in your child's green "Remote Learning Book".

There are a range of protocols and rules linked to using Teams that are designed to keep children safe. These require your support and you and your family accepting the terms of the Teams policy; see the policy and code of conduct below.

Prior to receiving your child's username and password, you will be sent a link to confirm you have read the code and policy. 

Code of Conduct when attending in the virtual classroom

During these sessions, pupils should:

• have been supported to read the plan for the lesson first, to have an idea of what to expect
• enter the virtual classroom 5 minutes before the start of the session
• cameras and microphones should be off
  • sometimes your teacher may ask you to put these on, but only do it when asked
• have a paper and pencil to hand
• use the hands-up icon to ask a question but only turn the microphone on when asked to by the teacher
• not enter or use the "Chat" function (use the class blog on Purple Mash instead)
• leave the classroom when the teacher concludes the input
• continue thereafter with the task set by the teacher
• NB there will be a TA or 2nd teacher online at the same time, who will take a “register” of lesson attendees and monitor use of the classroom tabs and functions 

In the event of a bubble, bubbles or the whole school closing, each class will have their own dedicated time slots to receive their online teaching. Two sessions daily at the same time each day. The timetable is set to allow every class their lessons separately; so if the whole school has to teach virtually, siblings' sessions do not clash, devices can be shared and each can be supervised by an adult.  

Teaching teams may offer additional, optional virtual sessions as well. This is Miss Gardner's lunch time quiz during our Year 6 bubble closure!

The children are following the code with their cameras off and microphones muted. Miss Reeder in the meantime is tracking the class list on the RHS of the screen, where she can see who has their virtual hand up.

Suggested daily timetable for bubbles at home

The time slots below, if followed, would broadly allocate the right amount of time to each subject and ensure it fitted around your child’s virtual teaching. For younger children, the session may not take that long. For older ones, they may need to return to some work to complete it later, in order not to miss online sessions.

Where there may be a gap in the timetable, other than for morning break and lunch, children can: read, select a range of activities from the Rainbow page on the website https://www.billingborough.lincs.sch.uk/lessons-by-subject/  or engage in a “real-life” lesson: cooking, practical, physical. We also strongly encourage children to access the PE page and keep active for at least 60 minutes every day  https://www.billingborough.lincs.sch.uk/pe-1/ 

Please note the suggested timetable below has the original times on for live lessons, which have changed since this was drafted, please see the above timetable for current live lesson slots.

We accept that some flexibility will be needed for families to combine parents' work, school lessons, access to technology and sibling requirements, however we hope the above suggestions will be useful. If it is not practical to join the live lesson, or you need to repeat a bit, these are recorded and can be downloaded from your virtual classroom or Tapestry.

Children with additional needs and remote learning 

If your child has additional needs, which require support in the classroom, it is highly likely that they will be invited to attend school in the event of a "Lockdown" and we strongly recommend they do so. However, if a bubble has to isolate they will need to learn remotely. In which case your class teacher will make arrangements for support. This could be via a range of methods, for example:

• An additional adult may support them to undertake the independent learning aspect of the lesson by joining them on line ( within teacher earshot) after the main lesson input has finished.
• A separate invitation call may be made for a specifically planned lesson for them.
• Outside specialists eg speech and language may deliver interventions on-line and a school staff member will join in to support then deliver back up sessions afterwards.
• A special learning pack suitable to your child's needs may be delivered to home.
• Paper based learning will be made available to collect from school.

Where ever possible and practical any provision or reasonable adjustments made for children with additional needs is/are aligned to the class curriculum and the work their peers are undertaking.

During the Autumn parents received a survey link to confirm they have read this page and the Teams Policy. Upon receipt of your reply, we sent you the username and passwords to access your child's virtual Teams classroom. Please contact the school office if you do not have yours or have lost it.

As well as lessons during a closure, the virtual classroom will be used for "parents' evenings" too. our first was in the Autumn term and a second will be held after Easter 2021.

Tapestry

Children in Water Voles and Dormice Class have an online learning journal called "Tapestry".

Your log in will be stuck in your child's reading record.

Here you can share your child's remote learning with comments and photos, which will contribute to their Early Years Profile. 

Families should have given their consent (or otherwise) for a Tapestry account when their child joined the school.

Purple Mash

You can read all about this learning platform on its dedicated home learning page click here.

While a bubble is closed, the children also have access to their class blog which is part of their Purple Mash offer. Here they can chat safely with their classmates and each post is vetted by the class teacher before it is approved and visible online

Children may also be set learning here that is to be submitted for teacher feedback, such as their spellings.

Children's Purple Mash log-ins should be stuck in their planner /reading record book, they are also in your green Remote Learning Book.

Class Teachers may set remote mathematics on Times Table Rock Stars or Numbots; your child will have their log-in stuck on their planner or reading records and thier green book.
