Welcome to Thunder class!
Thunder is a friendly class of year 3 and 4 children with lots of enthusiasm and a love of learning. We try very hard and take pride in our work with the help of Mrs Possnett and Mrs Moss, who guide us towards our next steps.
We are currently learning about Britain during World War Two, especially the lives of children.
We have explored what life as an evacuee may have been like on our recent residential visit to Rand Farm Park. We helped care for the animals, made butter, played traditional games and prepared some of our own meals. To end a fabulous day, we had an amazing pyjama party in the play barn.
On 24th June, we were lucky enough to be invited to participate in the 7th Mini Olympics organised by Carre's Grammar School. The sun was shining and the team spirit was amazing. To celebrate the forthcoming Rugby World cup, all 20 schools performed the Haka - a fabulous end to a wonderful day.
Below are a collection of photographs sharing some of our work so far:
We celebrated VE Day in style on Friday 8th May.
Some very special guests joined our assembly, in which we shared our work and sang some war time songs accompanied by the guitar club. We then played code breaking games, 'air-raid siren' musical statues and plane-spotting games. This was followed by a wonderful VE day afternoon tea of spam and jam sandwiches and home-made mini jam tarts and sponge cakes - thank you Mrs Moss!
Our day then ended with a two minute silence as a mark of respect to all those who lived through the war.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
