Our Snow Policy
If snow arrives overnight, we will update our website as soon as possible to alert you to any closures. Our running message on the homepage will carry appropriate instructions. An email will be sent to all parents and a message will be posted on ClassDojo to keep you up to date. Local radio stations will also be informed so that updates can be included in their bulletins.
We will inspect school again the following day before 8am and the same procedure will be applied. Breakfast Club will be suspended until a decision has been made.
When it has snowed and school remains open, children should arrive in uniform with optional additional warm layers, wellies, spare indoor shoes and socks, gloves, scarves and warm coats. We would suggest that, if your child is normally provided a lunch through Ideal Meals, you send them to school with a packed lunch in the event of transportation issues.
It is unlikely that we will operate our usual Wraparound Care during emergency periods, to allow more difficult journeys to be made during daylight hours. We will, of course, communicate with parents to confirm depending on each situation.
If we experience heavy snowfall during the day please check the website initially. We may recommend early collection for pupils who are unable to walk home.
Staying Safe in the Sun
We want all our children and staff to enjoy spending time outside safely without the risk of the harmful effects of the sun. Our Sun and Heatwave Safety Policy outlines some suggestions to help cope with hot weather:
